Scorpion Comes Down: A Piece of BGT History Fades Away

What a difference a week makes when you’re tearing down a piece of history—especially in plain view of everyone. Just last week, we were at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and saw Scorpion still standing, with maintenance crews working around the mechanical building and attraction station. Fast forward to Monday, May 6, 2025, and demolition had officially begun.

As of May 10, 2025, only the station, brake zones (with most of a train still sitting in one of them), and a handful of elevated track pieces remain. Everything else has already been chopped up and scattered across the ground.

Conclusion

We assume demolition will be wrapped up fairly soon, but it doesn’t look like the site is being prepped for anything new just yet. Unlike the closure and removal of Sand Serpent, no construction walls have gone up around Scorpion’s demolition area—suggesting the space may sit idle for a while.
