Lion and Hyena Ridge – Busch Gardens Tampa officially opens its brand-new Edge of Africa exhibit
Lion and Hyena Ridge gives Busch Gardens Tampa guests impressive 270-degree views of the lions and hyenas across a nearly 35,000-square-foot habitat. Its innovative design features rocky kopje formations, water elements, and varied spaces that encourage climbing, exploring, and other natural behaviors—all within clear view of guests.

To further enhance the Lion and Hyena habitat, select rock formations include heating and cooling features that support the animals’ comfort and well-being year-round. The habitats includes two expansive, multi-functional habitats with rotating areas that allow for dynamic social groupings and behavioral variety. Guests can enjoy the experience through expansive glass viewing structures and shaded pathways that deliver those dramatic 270-degree perspectives.

Home to a coalition of five young male lions (Pascal, Lou, Henri, Hugo, and Herman) and the park’s resident spotted hyenas (Cazi and Dazi), Lion and Hyena Ridge represents one of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s most ambitious animal habitat expansions in more than a decade. It more than doubles the previous space and prioritizes both animal wellness and immersive guest experiences.

This expansion is part of Busch Gardens’ broader $200 million investment in new attractions and park enhancements.

Lion and Hyena Ridge opens to the public on July 25, 2026 (with earlier access for passholders). It continues Busch Gardens’ commitment to conservation, education, and world-class animal care within the Edge of Africa realm.
